Fortune and Misfortune

The winners of the last Pyramid £2000 accessories competition were delighted to have won but also had a nasty shock in store at the same time when upgrading their caravan.

Having just returned to caravanning following years of foreign holidays with their two girls, they had purchased an older van to see if the girls liked the experience. Their reaction was positive so having seen a caravan advertised in a popular caravanning magazine that met their requirements they answered the ad and were sent an email with an embedded link which took them to a website looking like eBay. The price asked was acceptable and the vendors asked to have a direct payment to their bank rather than using PayPal as they would have costs to bear.

Nichola hurried to the bank to make the transfer and await delivery of the new caravan. The family then found out they’d won the Pyramid competition that Nichola had entered when they attended the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in October. This came as a great surprise and just added to the family’s excitement!

So, the appointed day and time for the caravan to be delivered came, and went, and no caravan arrived; that was the end of any communication from the seller too.

What has subsequently transpired is that it was a fraudulent advert in the industry bible, the website wasn’t eBay and that although the money was transacted in the same Bank there was nothing they could do to get Mark and Nicola’s money returned.

A warning to all!

Nichola and Mark were delighted with the stack goodies they chose. “We are so pleased with our prizes. It’s just like Christmas morning. It took us nearly 3 hours to open everything. We can’t thank you enough for such a wonderful prize.” Luckily, this delivery did arrive on time!
